Recovery. or not?

My email if you ever need it is

Updated November 2016 – I am not going to paint you a rosie picture, instead I am going to tell you the truth as I see it.

I have been around here for over 50 years, I am 78 years old and have seen much more than most of you. My friends, we are out for a very rude awakening! Unemployment is way too high, the US owes over 19.5 trillion dollars, home prices are still going down, Federal, all State and Local governments are broke, and the money coming in is not enough to even pay the interest on the debt.

It does not take a rocket scientist to know what the next step is, however, most of us are DENYING the fact that we are in a heap of trouble.

Yes, most of us still have the head stuck in the sand and we are ignoring the sad future that awaits us. There is no way we are going to get out of this one, there is no magic wand to shake, and if the US plays the cards right, we will start getting out of the mess we are in, in about 25 years, no sooner. Yes, I will not be able to see that, I will be dead by then.

Why are we ignoring it? Because it is human nature to first deny it, then when it gets a little worse we will get angry… there are other steps but the last one will be accepting the truth. By then it will be too late to prepare at all and then many of us will be sorry we did nothing about it when we could.

Something is going to happen soon there are many factors that may trigger it, and get the meltdown started. Factors could include Europe’s misbehaving countries, Stock market, the FED, Dollar, Euro, etc, but If nothing else happens, the world countries will eventually change the World Currency from the US Dollar to some other currency like the Yuan.

There are 57 countries that already agreed in not using the dollar any more, the switch is pending….

When that change takes place, the Dollar which has been the world currency since 1944 will no longer be, right now any and all transactions between countries, for example buying and selling oil, are made in US Dollars. Once that is changed, nobody will care about the dollar and also nobody will lend any more money to the US. What happens then? First change we will see is that The US has to buy it’s oil using a different currency which they have to buy. That is when we start paying through the nose. The dollar will start dropping in value, the loaf of bread which was $2.50 will soon be $10 and so will be everything else.

What else will happen? We can say that all hell will break loose. Unemployment will be much higher, governments, federal, state and local will not be able to pay workers (they are broke anyway) , therefore there will be less police, firefighters, trash removal, ambulances, hospitals, goods, stores will close, again because they will not be able to pay workers, banks will close (get your money out before they close) and eventually we will be on our own…. What does that mean? We will have no support at all. No Social Security Checks, No pension checks, No electricity or very sporadic, no water, food will be scarce, get the picture? This is not IF it happens, it is When it happens.

By this time is when we will have to go “Back to Basics”

That means, start talking to your neighbors again, find out what they need, how you can help, how they can help you, start bartering, since the dollar is not going to be worth much, you can give them a few tomatoes in exchange for a roll of toilet paper as an example. Accepting dollars in time of hyperinflation would be stupid knowing that the dollar will be worth much less within 24 hours.

It is time to switch to STUFF. You don’t deal with paper money any more, you exchange “stuff” with “stuff” and the person with the most “stuff” will be a rich person. So what do you do with your dollars? Some will save them to be exchanged for a new currency some years later at a loss of course, some will exchange for precious metals, gold, silver, etc. If you have a lot, you could come out a winner in the long run. Banks in Australia just decided that large bills should not be used any more… this is only the begining, all banks will start doing that all over the world, If you have a lot of 100 dollar bills, exchange them for 10 20 or 50 dollar bills, the banks will not accept the 100 dollar bills much longer.

It is not too expensive to get some silver coins, pre 1965 quarters, halves and dimes have 90% of silver in them and are about the smallest denomination which will be used in the future to trade or barter. The cost of a 1964 silver dime in today’s dollars $1.62 (Nov 2013). Where can you get these coins? Call any local gold and silver dealer, they should have plenty of them and will sell them to you by the coin, not by the bag. You don’t have to get a 5 lb bag for $18,000 dollars, get a few coins if that is all you want. They will have dimes, quarters and halves. Find a reputable gold and silver dealer in your neighborhood. Check them out before you do any transactions with them. You will find them in the Internet.

You should have some of those coins, after the meltdown, when you go shopping you will find that some places will accept ONLY silver coins.

Whatever you do, be sure you get possession of your coins, don’t believe that they will keep it in their safe, they may not even have a safe and when you get gold, look at every coin, be sure it has .999 or .9999 pure silver or pure gold printed in them. If you want to buy gold, be sure to buy gold eagles. It is the only coin which you can buy and sell without leaving a paper trail (your name).

Talking of Gold, Be aware there are plenty of fake gold coins out there, Be sure your dealer is a reputable dealer who has been in the business quite a few years and you can trust.

NOW is time to prepare as much as you can to try and minimize the impact on you and your family in years to come. What will you eat next year? Start planning a garden, a large one and get seeds now while they are very cheap and available. Have ground? Use as much of it for the garden, having crops will give you bartering power. You may come up with an excuse, I have to go to work…. There will be no jobs, so take care of your garden, spend as much time there ads needed. One of the best items you will be able to use to barter will be seeds. Yes, take them from your own produce, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peas, etc. All those seeds will be like gold in an economy poor in goods of any kind. Make sure your seeds are completely dry before you store them, place them in paper envelopes, then refrigerate them. They keep a few years. What about grass? It will be only good if you have goats. Other than that, you are wasting the good growing space.

What will we do to heat our houses once the supply of kerosene, oil and propane are exhausted? Back to basics, plant trees now and have them to burn when the need arises. Get an axe, there will be no gas for a chain saw!. You can heat your house for an entire season by planting and managing only one acre with hybrid poplars, and the trees will be there for years to come (they resprout from the roots). Prepare in advance!

I have a friend who started this “going to basics” project a few years back and by now he is very much self-sufficient. He has an acre of land, and grows stuff in about half of that acre. He has also solar panels, chickens, rabbits, bees, makes his own pellets for his wood burning stove, and I envy him. He has all the bartering power you could think of and he will never go hungry.

You may have one of those reverse osmosis filters or one of the more sophisticated filters made today that remove just about everything from the water, whatever kind of filter you have, eventually you will not be able to use it any longer either because you can’t find the cartridges or they are just too expensive, and it will have to be discarded… or there is no electricity to power them.

We are so used to just turn the faucet and get plenty of water. What happens when you turn it and nothing happens? How will we get potable water? .

Simple. This technique is being used all over the world today and we may have to use it also. Take a clear bottle of soda (6″ or less in diameter), remove all stickers, fill it with water (any water) seal it, and leave it outside under the full sun for 6 hours the ultraviolet rays of the sun will have purified the water. For more information go to the Internet and search for SODIS.CH
What do you need to start making your own purification plant? just a few plastic containers… but you need to have the containers, prepare now.

You will also need water that does not have to be purified, for the toilets. Install a couple of 55 gallon plastic barrels by the downspouts in your house, prop them up so you can put a bucket under the valve. You can keep the barrels filled all the time with water “on demand”. Where do you get your barrels? I get mine from a molasses manufacturer down the road, I pay $9 per barrel, the fittings you can get from Lowes or Home Depot. Empty the barrels when the temperatures go below freezing or install a heater to keep it from freezing. I use one of the heaters made for bird baths, it keeps the water at 40 degrees. Yes, I will not be using that heater when the electric goes down, I will be melting ice on my wood burning stove.

Another choice. There is a filter, the Berkey Royal filter, $285 which will filter close to 6000 gallons of water before it needs any serious servicing. It is stainless steel. It will take me about 8 years before I get close to 6000 gallons of water. This filter can be used with pond water, rain water, or any kind of water. It will filter it!

If you are currently heating your house with propane or oil, you are paying probably $4 per gallon. When the hyperinflation starts, the price of those two commodities will increase rapidly. Are you going to be able to pay $40 per gallon of oil? I don’t think so.
So, you will have to go with plan B, wood. or C Coal. Yes, we go back 100 years and we have to have a stove in our house that will produce heat and probably a lot of soot, and will smell bad, but those are things will will have to put up with so we don’t freeze during the next winters. First, we have to find a stove that will do the job, then we need to get the wood. Since it will be very expensive, the best way is to grow it. Yes, that means , a lot of work… Start right away if you don’t have any trees, plant as many as possible, grass is not a necessity, heat is! Plant trees that will grow fast and will give you plenty of wood. As a coincidence, I grow and sell those trees. See my web site if you need some.

Plant, plant, plant, harvest, can, store, freeze, dehydrate. – If you have trouble finding seeds, I have purchased a collection of what I consider to be the most important seeds you should have, I picked these as the seeds with the highest amount of nutrition and they are easy to grow. You can find them at

Planing in freezing? Keep in mind that your freezer is very good as long as you have the means to keep it running. If the electricity goes off for a few hours you may lose all the meats and dairy products. Any longer and you will lose the rest, so freezing is not too reliable for long term storing for that reason.

If you have canned before, this should be no new stuff for you, just do it in large scale, remember, food will not be easy to find, and we have to do like the ants and the squirrels, store for a rainy day…

This summer I did a lot of searches trying to figure out what is the best way keep your dry staples such as pasta, beans, peas, rice, grains, will remain viable for a longer time than normal. I think I have found the solution:

You will need some of the wide mouth quart size jars. A sound investment will be a Foodsaver machine. Get it at a discount at Bed, Bath and beyond. Also you will need a foodsaver Jar Sealer. This one you can get from and it is $10. You will also need to get some Oxygen Absorbers from They come in all sizes depending on what size jar or container you use.
The way you use them, you fill your jar with staples, drop an oxygen absorber, place a lid, vacuum it and seal it. Whatever is in that jar will remain good for many years.

Another way you can save your food is by dehydrating it. After dehydrating you just put them in plastic bags with an oxygen absorber, seal them, and they will last for many years. One of the best advantages of dehydrating is that the food shrinks sometimes as much as 90% of the original size, so you can store much more than if canned. What can you dehydrate? All kinds of fruits, vegetables, canned food, frozen food, etc. Please visit youtube and type dehydrator2store. There is a wealth of information on these videos. Once you see them you will realize that you can store much more food than you can with any other means.

More on Veggies. Last year I collected leaves from many vegetables from my garden such as kale, Swiss chard, Pak Choi, etc, and dehydrated them. By the way, the swiss chard leaves must be boiled for 3 minutes to remove some kind of acid, in any case, boil the leaves before dehydrating them. After you dehydrate them you can put them thru a food processor and make powder with them. You can fit probably 50 leaves of swiss chard in a 1 quart jar. What do you do with them? Next time you make a soup, add a tablespoon of that swiss chard or it.

I am doing something different now for breakfast. I make smoothies. We purchased a nutri bullet machine, there are two different ones the silver for cold stuff only and the nutri bullet RX which is black and much larger. You will have to make a decision as to which one you get. To save time I fill about 30 containers (16 oz dollar store, 4 ea) at the time with dry, or dehydrated items, enough to make a smoothy. In those containers we put all kinds of stuff such as almonds, dried apples, bananas, chia seeds, flax, goji berries, kale, kiwi, pineapple, raisins, sesame seeds, stevia, swiss chard, sunflower, walnuts, quinoa, trail mix, etc. we have a list which we follow, sometimes we do not have a few items, we just skip them, in any case we have 30 “lbreakfasts” almost ready to eat. When the time comes to make them, we just empty one of the containers in a nutri bullet jar, add soy or any other kind of milk to the “fill” line and let it crunch the stuff for a minute. At the end you will have a sweet drink, no solids in it at all, and that gives you enough nutrition for the whole day.

Sprouting What the heck is that? You take seeds, make them grow and eat them when they are about 3/4″ tall. And why is that any good? It has been discovered that sprouted seeds are much more beneficial to you, rather than the plants that are made from the seeds. For example take broccoli. It is well known that broccoli is the chosen veggy to fight cancer. Research shows that Broccoli Sprouts have 50 times the amount of cancer fighting elements grown plants have. This goes for many other seeds that are sprouted. If you are alergic to any kind of beans or grains, just sprout them, they will become harmless. It is very inexpensive and also very nutritive. Try it some day. You will get hooked. You can buy seeds by the pound from many places, I get mine from Ebay and I sprout seeds in a sprouter which I got also on the Internet.. Plenty of information on the net.

Another very important point. Do not under any circumstances store the food in your home. That would be the first place the hungry mobs will look and will take it without even asking. Take it to a family member who can store it for you. I know it is more work, but it is a must. If you want to store anything in your home, store potable water.
Keeping the food in a site other than your house will be very inconvenient because you will have to make several trips every week to get your supplies, but it will be safer.

We should be happy Wall Street is booming. The DOW is now over 18000 and gaining. Most companies stock is going up and everybody is very satisfied that we are out of the woods… but are we? Heck no. We are even worse than we have ever been and is not going to take much for the whole domino thing to start falling apart. Mark my words.

Not long ago, a friend of mine sent me this. Please read it over and over. It has to sink in!

In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government”.
“A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury”.

“From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship.”

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years.”.

During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”

The Obituary follows: Born 1776, Died 2016 It doesn’t hurt to read this several times. Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare…” Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the “complacency and apathy” phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase.

Things are not getting better, rather worse.
I just received a book,”Burning your Money” written by Bob Livingston, and printed by the Personal Liberty Media Group LLC. It is a 110 page little book but in it, you will find all the reasons you have putting your head in the sand. I urge you to get it and read it from cover to cover. You will see why you will pay $250 for a loaf of bread and $600 for a pound of meat among other things.

All the connections are listed in that little book, The White House, China, the printing presses in Washington, etc.
The book asks you to take action immediately. How many of you will? How many of you are still skeptical about any of this?

Here is an excerpt from that little book:

“Germany- By mid-1923 workers were being paid as often as 3 times a day. Their wives would meet them, take the money and rush to the shops to exchange it for goods. However, by this time, more and more often, shops were empty. Storekeepers cloud not obtain goods or could not do business fast enough to protect their cash receipts. Farmers refused to bring produce into the city in return for worthless paper. Food riots broke out. Parties of workers marched into the countryside to dig up vegetables and to loot the farms. Businesses started to close down and unemployment suddenly soared. The economy was collapsing”.

YOU! WAKE UP! This is not science fiction, it really happened and it was only 90 years ago, and it can happen here again.

Fresh news… California is now 16 billion dollars in debt. The word Austerity is not in their dictionary, they have not slowed down their spending, one of these days the vendors are going to say…
Sorry, that is it, no payment, no credit.

All world symptoms tell me the big plunge is soon. I am going to my bank tomorrow and take out as much money as I can to exchange it for… quarters, yes, quarters minted before 1965. They are 90% silver and they will charge me $5 each. I know these quarters will keep their value. OK, I got some quarters, halves and dimes. That will help me with the bartering.

The Conspiracy emails have increased, I used to get one a day, I now get about 5 of them every day and they are getting bolder and ask for more urgency. I was thinking I get these emails, you should get them too, why is it that very few people is doing something about it?.

I just saw a long report, an eye opener which explains why living in this earth is unsustainable altogether. They looked at 3 items, oil, water and food. It is like this. No matter what we do or anybody does, there is no way to keep up with the demand. Yes, prices will rise dramatically but the supply of all those will not be enough to keep all 9 billion of us alive. Keep in mind, world population is also increasing exponentially while oil production, food and water is decreasing. It is only a matter of time before the whole pyramid scheme comes down, and we will be in for a very rude awakening. We are in the path of no return.

– It happened again. Teachers in Chicago got the raise they wanted and now everything is back to normal. Or is it? President Reagan would have fired them all on the spot, the same way he did it with the Air Traffic Comptrollers, and would have started all over. No, we are too soft and have to give in to the unions demands. This can’t last.

Fiscal Cliff: a smoke screen designed to keep us from thinking about the real issue:19.5 Trillion Dollars in debt.

I just made aware of this web site: Power Plants. Rather than giving you a sample of this web site, I am giving you the link to it.

July 2013 DETROIT is bankrupt!.

God help us!
